Information for Teachers

Welcome to the Teachers' Corner of the National History Day in Pennsylvania.

Thank you for your interest in bringing this worthwhile program to the students in your school. By encouraging your students to participate in History Day, you are helping them to develop valuable problem-solving and research skills, as well as an appreciation of people and events in other cultures and other times.

The Teachers' Corner is a teacher-focused page that includes helpful information about the National History Day in Pennsylvania contest (including updates specific to you, the teacher).

Although there are many advantages to participation, the major benefits to you as a teacher are:
  • enjoying the professional and personal satisfaction of seeing your students grow in their enthusiasm and appreciation for history
  • working with students individually or in small groups on in-depth projects about unique topics not usually covered in your curriculum
  • gaining recognition among other educators and the community

To help your students get started on their projects, check the For Students section, and the
  • National History Day Web site.
